"I was ready  to give up on breastfeeding. I kept getting blocked milk ducts. I had at least one or two a week.  Going to a lactation consultant was my last ditch effort.  Shari was incredible.  She showed my how to clear my blocked milk ducts as well as proper positioning while nursing, so that I could prevent them.  It is because of Shari that I am still nursing at ten months.  It was definitely the best money I ever spent!

"I believe that taking the Breastfeeding Class was one of the best things I could have done to prepare myself for motherhood.  I knew that breastfeeding was something that I wanted to do, but I had heard so many stories from my friends and others about how hard it was for them, and how they gave up very early.  The fact that Shari is a Midwife and Lactation Consultant, as well as a mother of two who successfully breastfed on her own, made me really want to take the class with her.
I felt like I would gain a lot more from this class than from one through the hospital with someone who wouldn't have quite the same passion for the subject, or the extensive background that Shari does.  The class is wonderful, and informative, and FULL of information.  I left that class with so much confidence in my ability to give my baby the best nutrition I could possibly offer him!!

"Being a brand new mother can be a little scary.  You get bombarded with so much information, and sometimes you don't get enough information about the things you are really looking for.  I was having some issues with my son and his eating when he was just a week old.  When I called Shari for a consult, I was nervous and upset and looking for some solid information.  Shari saw me right away - which helped me relax immediately.  I brought my son in for a Lactation Consultation the very next morning.  She showed me how to correct his latch and it instantly changed everything.  Having someone stand by me and help me and reassure me - especially with something so brand new - is exactly what I needed at that fragile time in my and my son's life.  It gave me the confidence to continue on and know that I was doing exactly the right thing.

"At 20 weeks pregnant, I came into the Birth Boutique for a Maternity/Nursing Bra fitting.  Lauren and Shari both helped with my fitting.  The thing that made me feel really great right away was the time and attention I received in this process.  I felt like they were really trying to do the very best for me, and they weren't just trying to get me to spend money and rush me out of the store.  They told me that the bras would fit me then, as well as after I had my baby and my milk had come in - and that was a guarantee.
