New Parent WorldTM
(at The Birth Boutique)

Connie Seville

Connie teaches Sign with Baby and Signing Workshops at New Parent World and has worked for The Birth Boutique for nearly a year and a half. Connie brings a unique and varied background to the learning center. Not only is she a mother to a two year-old son, she is a native signer.

Connie was born to parents who are deaf, and was raised bi-lingually and bi-culturally. Living in both the hearing and Deaf worlds, she learned how to sign before she could verbally speak.

Connie’s upbringing inspired her to work with people with disabilities and received her bachelor’s of Science in Rehabilitation Services from Springfield College. She is a former schoolteacher who has taught American Sign Language (ASL) to elementary students, college students, fellow teachers, and in Early Intervention programs. She also has interpreting experience in a variety of situations.

Connie is very passionate about teaching ASL and the Deaf Culture and it motivates her to teach and share her knowledge and experiences with new parents. She believes that teaching sign language to parents can facilitate communication with their babies, therefore increasing bonding, and understanding of their needs since they do not possess the motor skills for verbal communication.
