About Pietrina's
Pietrina Riccio has been in the beauty business for over 25 years as a professional hairstylist and colorist. She has owned and operated Pietrina’s Hair & Nail Salon for the past 14 years. Located on West Main Street in Rockaway, New Jersey in the building she and her husband, John Riccio, restored in 1993.
They have created a comfortable and cozy environment that makes clients feel right at “home”.
It’s like stepping back in time to the days when a trip to the salon was like a visit with family. Pietrina laughs saying, “I’ve been working with some of my client’s so long they actually feel like family”. “For some of them, I’ve been there from the first date to the wedding, to the baby christening and all the steps in between”. “Both my staff and I pride ourselves on the personal relationships we’ve developed with our clients over the years”.
But don’t let the old time charm fool you. The salon continually strives to provide the newest and most up to date hair and nail techniques including a full service for pedicure and waxing. Pietrina smiles saying, “That’s why we are here, to bring the best in beauty to our discerning clientele and the key to that is continued education”.
As part of the commitment to always stay ahead of the trends, the staff continues to participate in many hair classes, clinics, and seminars including The International Beauty Show at the Jacob Javits Center and creative nail design classes such as Pink & White Jels, Spa Pedicure, and Nail Makeovers.
Angelica Basso, senior nail technician and manager of the salon states, “I’m always looking for ways to keep it fresh and fun”. In fact, the salon placed 2nd runner up last February in the “Artist Visionaries Awards” earning the distinction “Salon of the Year”. The contest was held by Nails Magazine at the Hair and Nail Conference in Las Vegas. Angelica smiles, “It was quite an honor and I’m very proud”.
Pietrina goes on, “We’re only as good as the products we offer”. “After all, we have to keep our clients looking great until we see them again”. Some of the hair products being offered include Goldwell, Biosilk and Loreal Color in addition to a great selection by Pureology, Biolage, Matrix, Big Sexy Hair and Nioxin.
